Site of the Week: Soccer Cinema

Yola.com is proud to be based in Cape Town and with the 2010 World Cup fast approaching in South Africa, many employees in our San Francisco office have been looking for reasons to visit our Cape Town office. We don’t need a reason to get all fired up about the World Cup, but Soccer Cinema is helping to do just that!

The creators of this site believe, as many do, that the World Cup “has the potential to unite South Africans as no other event [has] since democracy was established in 1994.” As such, they are taking the show on the road and screening documentaries of soccer stories in small towns that would otherwise not be exposed to the action and inspiration of the World Cup. The efforts of this group to bring these communities together is inspiring and something we are honored to be able to help them with.

Their experience with Yola:

Yola is dirt simple to use – if you can use a computer you can build a free website! And, what you build is clean and smart. Adding extras is quite simple too, we have been able to plug in things from Facebook and Twitter. Our site is simple but effective and that’s what we needed. Publishing is instant and hosting is free – what brilliance! Support? The response on email is quick and the guys even go ahead and tweak the HTML to fix things. Sharp service.

Their integration with social media applications is crucial to their success in getting the word out. If you want to add a social media presence to your site you can start by adding a Twitter badge, or a Facebook button or widget. This is a great way to help drive more traffic to your site!
