Announcing the Yola Style Designers Community

November 4, 2009

11:04 am

Hello creative Yola fans,

We are happy to announce the Yola Style Designers Community. The goal of the Style Designers Community is to create a means for designers who have experience with web design or graphic tools to easily submit new Yola Styles and earn money from their work.

Check out the program at:http://styledesigners.yola.com/

Some important points to keep in mind are:

  • We are looking for visual designs only, in layered PSD format
  • Designs must follow our Design Guidelines
  • Designs should keep in mind the Yola Audience
  • We only pay for submissions if we accept the style (and we only use accepted styles) - read more in our Terms and Conditions
  • Images you use must be images you own either own all of the rights to, or stock images that you can direct us to, and that we can buy redistribution rights to. Images you find on the web and don’t have redistribution licenses for are NOT acceptable.
We’re very excited about this initiative and we look forward to your Yola Style Design submissions!

We just released a great little tool that will help you really customize the look and feel of your site.

For any of our templates that have customizable banner images, you can now crop your images to easily create a banner image that looks fantastic.  Try it out.  You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes in your site.

You can find this feature when you’re building or editing your site.  Look for the “Change Banner” or “Edit Banner buttons in the header banner as seen in the image below.

Happy site building!

New Release

February 25, 2008

1:13 pm

We have rolled out new updates to both the Site Builder and our website.

The Site Builder now boasts a bunch of new features which will allow you to add forms, maps, Google AdSense and other widgets and gadgets to your sites. There are new Styles to choose from and it is now easy to manage all types of resources and link to them.

We have also put some effort into making it easier to get going with your first SynthaSite - we have tutorials on how to create, populate and publish your site, as well as Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and searchable support. There are some site and profile management features accessible directly from the website once you have logged in.

You can read the release notes for full detail.

Let us know what you think.

Synthasite offers 1m Free Shares in the company to it’s community:

September 4, 2007

8:30 am

Thanks to all our Alpha testers for their hard work in getting us ready for prime time. The SynthaSite Beta is just around the corner, and in an effort to offer our users some of the most unique and custom designed templates, we’ve decided that we want YOU to share in our success as a company, by giving you the opportunity to earn shares in our business. We’ve allocated up to 1,000,000 shares in SynthaSite to our community, and over the course of the next few months and years, we will be running regular programs that will offer you the opportunity to become a virtual shareholder in our business. We currently value these shares at around $250,000 in total! If SynthaSite was ever acquired or became a listed entity, these shares would be worth exponentially more than what they are today - and with your help, we can get there!

So, in order to launch our share incentive scheme, we’re offering template designers the opportunity to build templates in exchange for shares. For every template that we use in SynthaSite and on our upcoming marketplace, the template designer will receive the following:

  • 1,000 Shares in SynthaSite (Pty) Ltd
  • A link at the bottom of each template back to your website (great for link building!)

Brush up those design skills and create a design template for SynthaSite. We’re only selecting the best templates, and will allocate shares on a usage basis (i.e. when we use them).
Synthasite templates are really simple; basically a 1 page HTML design with menu with a central region into which users can place content / widgets.

The templates need to be completely open source (we’ll be giving them away free to all SynthaSite publishers with our Beta release), but we’ll keep a “Designed by <yourname>” link at the bottom of the template so people can find out more about your work.

Interested?

Get full details and a template specification and send your entry to templatecompetition@synthasite.com before Monday Oct 1st 2007.

And watch the blog for feedback & updates on the competition!

Terms & Conditions (fine print):
This offer does NOT constitute an offer for subscription of shares. Shares will be allocated to successful designers chosen by SynthaSite, in lieu of payment for the templates. Submission to SynthaSite warrants that you are the designer and owner of the rights, and is therefore deemed an offer. Acceptance and use of the template by Synthasite will be deemed to be acceptance of that offer and a share allocation 1,000 shares will be deemed as payment thereof. Any and all users of SynthaSite will have free and unfettered use of the template, and will be allowed to modify, adapt, change, enhance or improve at their own discretion. Shares will not be transferred to the successful designers upfront, but instead, allocated to them for issue at a later date, to be determined by the company. Shares cannot be sold until transferred. If SynthaSite is wholly acquired (greater than 75% stock in issue is purchased) or lists on a stock market, the shares will be issued to the shareholder, subject to any and all legal conditions required of them by their country being fulfilled. All costs for ensuring compliance will be borne by the shareholder and costs of transfer by SynthaSite.
